Many recall that Mel Brooks, Danny Kaye, Sid Caesar and other major stars began their careers in the Catskill Mountains of New York. But there was another significant group of comedians, such as Freddie Roman, Mal Z. Lawrence, Jackie Mason, and Alan King, who became well-established comic personalities simply by stepping foot on the Borscht Belt stage.
